A 6-hour online CPD workshop for therapeutic professionals facilitated by Lou Mason Coaching in collaboration with Vicki McKeown, of VLM Training.
Content Summary:
This Level 3 training has been specially designed to support lone working professionals within their private practice and will give an overview of the requirements, guidelines and key legislature that you need to be aware of. It considers all the factors you need to have in place to ensure a robust legal and ethical provision relating to safeguarding and child protection.
The day will offer opportunities for sharing, discussion and reflection in smaller breakout groups as well as with the whole cohort – please note that this day has limited places and requires live attendance as it is an interactive and experiential workshop. No recordings are permitted although the slides will be made available to those who have attended the whole day
A 6 hour CPD certificate is also provided (please read the full event page including the terms and conditions of booking for further information about this day). Areas covered include:
- What constitutes safeguarding?
- What to do if/when identifying safeguarding concerns in private practice
- How to go about making a referral
- Your responsibilities
- Others’ responsibilities
- Your involvement in safeguarding processes; before, during and after including ways of communicating.
- Keeping yourself safe & considering your own self-care needs in relation to safeguarding in private practice
Please note: While relevant law and legislation are clearly covered, the emphasis is on how safeguarding translates into day-to-day practice for lone working professionals. The day focuses on developing confidence in safeguarding processes from pre- to post-referral, ensuring clients are supported appropriately and not further traumatised through the safeguarding experience, while also safeguarding the professionals delivering the work. Whilst some practitioners might be working privately within a school setting, due to time restrictions we cannot always explore safeguarding within counselling teams or school systems but rather our focus is on the work you are doing alone without organisational support.
